Abstract

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum Linn) is a plant for sugar raw materials. Plants of this
type of grass (Gramineae) can only grow in tropical climates. In Indonesia, sugar cane is
widely cultivated, one of which is in Sumatra. In addition to being the main ingredient for
making sugar, sugar cane can be used as a substitute for cement. Sugarcane has the same
content as cement, namely lime (CaO) and silica (SiO2) which are the main components in
contributing to the strength of portland cement. The purpose of this study was to determine
the effect of adding bagasse ash as a cement substitution to the variation of the concrete used,
respectively, 0% (normal concrete), 10%, 20% and 30%. The size of the bagasse ash used is
passing filter no. 100. The test object used is a cylindrical test object with dimensions of 10 x
20 cm. The planned compressive strength is fc 30 MPa. The results showed a decrease in the
compressive strength of concrete for each addition of the amount of bagasse ash.
