Abstract

Road damage that often occurs the surface layer is a rough looking surface caused by water and vehicle whell friction. To handle it, it is necessary to add additional PCC cement to strengthen the bond between aggregate and asphalt. The addition of the us dose is only 1%, 1,5% dan 2% of the weight of the asphalt. This study aims to determine the effect of PCC cement additives using the marshall method on the asphalt concrete-wearing course (AC-WC) surface layer. In making the AC-WC surface worn asphalt mixture which is a new specification issued by the directorate general of bina marga. Marshall testing is carried to determine the optimum asphalt content in accordance with the specifications of the mixture from bina marga. The manufacture of marshall specimens was made with variations in asphalt content, namely, 5,0%, 5,5%, 6,0%, 6,5% and 7,0% each as many as 3 pieces. The weight of the mixed marshall test object is approximately 1150 grams. The process of compaction of the results of the study obtained an optimum asphalt content of 6,1% on the AC-WC surface layer using 60/70 penetration asphalt. Although the level of use is only small, the results from the marshall test can increase the stability, density, and VFB values.
