The Jalan Merdeka section, Tanjung Raja District, Ogan Ilir Regency is very strategic in connecting economic activities and community activities between regencies and cities causing traffic loads to become dense, especially due to market activities which can be in the form of high side barriers, the amount of side barriers greatly affects vehicle capacity and speed. The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of the road segment and to find out how the influence of side barriers on the characteristics of traffic flow on the Merdeka road section. This study uses secondary data from the South Sumatra National Road Implementation Center and the Central Statistics Agency for Ogan Ilir Regency for primary data collection which was carried out on 4 sections with a length of no more than 1.1 Km around the market with a monitoring length of 200 meters. for one week with an interval of 15 minutes for 12 hours on August 2, 2021 to August 8, 2021 at 06.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB where the performance analysis of this road section refers to the 2014 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI). This shows that the Performance of the Jalan Merdeka (Front of Tanjung Raja Market) Tanjung Raja District, Ogan Ilir Regency in 2021 based on the results obtained from Q/C on 4 segments with a degree of saturation of segment 1 of 0.53, segment 2 of 0.58, segment 3 is 0.53, and segment 4 is 0.65. So that segment 1 to segment 4 is categorized with service level C, that is (in the stable flow zone the driver is limited in choosing the speed). This shows that segments 1 to 4 are still within the standard level of saturation set by the 2014 PKJI, which is < 0.85. While the effect of side resistance is obtained by the frequency of side resistance class in segment 1 of 434.14 Occurrence/hour can be categorized (Medium). in segment 2 of 736.40 events/hour can be categorized (High). in segment 3 of 712.08 events/hour can be categorized (High). in segment 4 of 1098.44 Events/hour can be categorized (Very High). This causes the free flow speed on Jalan Merdeka to be lower, namely segment 1 of 36.83 km/hour, segment 2 of 35.84 km/hour, segment 3 of 36.60 km/hour, and segment 4 of 31.91 km/hour. so that it does not reach the ideal free flow speed determined by the 2014 PKJI, which is 44.00 km/hour
