Abstract

The role of rivers is very important for the survival of living things, both humans, animals and plants. The micro hydro power plant or called the Microhydro Power Plant (PLTMH) aims to anticipate electrical energy for people in rural areas, especially in the villages of Banding Agung and Mekakau Ilir Districts, Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan District. This research took place on the Rantau Nipis River, Dusun IV Niagara, Banding Agung District, Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan Regency.

The method used in this research is to use the buoy ball method. Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) is an alternative energy source that is environmentally friendly and relatively easy to realize so that it can convert water potential with a certain height and discharge to become electric power, using a water turbine engine and generator.

The result of this research is that the maximum debit is 19.29 m ^ 3 / second. With an effective fall height of 11.5 m so that it can generate electrical energy of 2.956.616 Watts or 2.956 kW.
