Abstract

Until now, palm shell waste has not been used optimally and the economic value is very low, burning palm ash waste contains silica which is a pozzolan material which has an important role in the formation of cement, namely SiO2 and Al2O3 compounds in which active compounds which when reacting with lime free or Calcium Hydroxide (Ca (OH2)) and water will form a cement-like material namely Calcium Silicate Hydrate. This study aims to determine the effect of burning temperature of palm shell ash and the optimum percentage on the addition of palm shell ash, the method used in this study is an experimental method using cube-shaped specimens with a size of 50x50x50 mm totaling 25 pieces of each firing temperature. Based on research that carried out mortar testing with a mixture of 10% has the highest compressive strength value of the percentage of ingredients added 5%, 15%, 20% and normal mortar and normal mortar burning 250 ° palm shell ash has a compressive strength value of only 24.48 Mpa but at a temperature of 300 ° increased to 24.56 Mpa and then again experienced at a temperature of 350 ° by 24.72 MPa, but at a temperature of 400 ° there was a significant increase to 26.8 MPa.
